Many individuals and businesses have asked us how they can get involved and volunteer at a local non-profit Wyoming County agency. We have listed a few that were given to us with contact names and phone numbers to learn more.

Day of Caring

- Due to the hurricane and flooding, The United Way of Wyoming County and Procter & Gamble has postponed the Day of Caring to the Spring. As soon as dates have been selected, it will be posted on our website and the agencies will be notified.

Family Service Association

- 10 volunteers aged 16 years of age or older, are needed to work at our Pauly Friedman - Family Walk/Run as Traffic Control for the event which will take place on Sunday, August 14th at Misericordia University. Traffic volunteers are stationed along the 3.1 mile race course directing the runners and walkers along the course. H.A.N.D.S of Wyoming County

- Needs a volunteer to help clean and organize the children's room on a regular basis. With flu and cold season it is necessary to clean the room and toys at least once a week. They are also in need of "knick-knacks" that can be used for prizes at their adult MH/MR clients Bingo nights. They love just about anything and get a real kick out of winning bingo. Interfaith Friends/Sweet Repeats

- Volunteer opportunities include sorting donations for sale for our Thrift store.  This includes tagging and hanging items.  We also utilize volunteers for our Senior Fruit Program, Easter and Christmas Food Basket Distributions, Christmas Bureau and the Souper Saturday Fundraiser.  This year, Interfaith is a participating organization in the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day Program.  For more information about Interfaith volunteer opportunities, contact Elaine Lee at 570-836-2428.

Victims Resource Center
(With 8 hours of training)

- Answer phones in office on lunch breaks.
- Copying direct service staff paperwork.
- Help on special awareness program planning committees (Mock Rape Trial, Candlelight Vigil, Clothesline Display) by - writing letters of invitation, permission, thank you letters, - developing and distributing posters, flyers, - developing and distributing press releases and public service announcements, - soliciting food and other donations, - soliciting speakers, - set-up and tear downs at events.
- Geranium sale assistance by - calling businesses to participate, delivering geraniums.
- Someone to mow lawn during summer months.
- Someone to shovel snow on sidewalks in winter months.

Wyoming County United Way

- Annual Fundraising Campaign Volunteers to help raise funds for United Way by soliciting donations from community members during the Annual Campaign which runs from August through December.

Duck Derby Fundraiser

— Businesses and individuals are needed beginning in May until the event which will be held on June 25th including outside Wal-Mart on June 11th and June 18th to sell tickets. Volunteers are also needed to distribute posters throughout the county prior to the event and to help run the stand on the day of the event.
